The movements of the landscape are more or less slow, more or less dense. They are shaped over time by geological phenomena, climate change and human interventions. The slagheaps are man-made mounds formed with waste material, a by-product of coal mining. They are among the last visible traces of an industrial memory. Now overgrown by vegetation, they slowly make way for natural areas. Dérive is a film composed by a series of stills that blend one into each other in a slow and imperceptible transformation. This project interrogates the loss of landscape memory through the movement and the persistence of images.
